Terms of Service
Last updated: 8 August 2026
Welcome to Friends Who Sign.
These Terms of Service apply when you purchase Happy Mail or use the Friends Who Sign website. By placing an order, you agree to these terms.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot legally be excluded. Australian consumers automatically receive consumer guarantees when buying goods and services, and businesses cannot contract out of those rights.
About Friends Who Sign
Friends Who Sign provides physical Happy Mail learning resources designed to help grown-ups learn and use practical Auslan signs through a Key Word Sign approach alongside spoken language.
Happy Mail is an educational resource. It is not medical, speech pathology, allied health, therapy or other professional health advice and is not intended to replace advice or support from your child’s health, education or early intervention professionals.
Auslan is a rich and complete language of the Australian Deaf community. Friends Who Sign uses selected Auslan signs through a Key Word Sign approach and is not a replacement for learning Auslan as a full language.
Happy Mail options
Try Happy Mail is a recurring monthly subscription. Customers receive two Happy Mail deliveries each month and can pause or cancel their subscription at any time.
3 Months of Happy Mail is a fixed three-month journey purchased with one payment. It includes seven Happy Mail deliveries and the inclusions described on the product page at the time of purchase.
6 Months of Happy Mail is a fixed six-month journey purchased with one payment. It includes thirteen Happy Mail deliveries and the inclusions described on the product page at the time of purchase.
The 3- and 6-month options do not automatically renew.
Prices and payment
All prices are displayed in Australian dollars unless otherwise stated.
Payment is processed securely through Stripe. By purchasing a recurring Try Happy Mail subscription, you authorise Stripe to charge the payment method you provide at the applicable monthly interval until the subscription is cancelled.
The price and payment arrangement shown at checkout at the time of purchase will apply to your order.
When Happy Mail is sent
Your Welcome Happy Mail is usually posted within 48 hours of joining.
After your Welcome Happy Mail, regular Happy Mail is sent twice each month — on the 15th and at the end of the month.
Dispatch dates may occasionally vary because of weekends, public holidays, postal disruptions or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Delivery
Friends Who Sign currently delivers within Australia.
Delivery times after dispatch depend on Australia Post and your location. While we will post Happy Mail according to the advertised schedule, Australia Post delivery times cannot be guaranteed.
Please make sure the postal address entered at checkout is correct and let us know as soon as possible if your address changes.
Missing Happy Mail
If your Happy Mail has not arrived after a reasonable delivery window, email hello@friendswhosign.com.au.
We will check the delivery details with you and, where a Happy Mail has gone missing in the post, we will resend the missing delivery at no extra cost or arrange a refund for that missing delivery.
If an incorrect or incomplete delivery address was supplied at checkout, please contact us and we will work with you to find the best solution.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected by this policy.
Cancelling Try Happy Mail
You can pause or cancel Try Happy Mail at any time.
Cancellation prevents future recurring payments. It does not ordinarily reverse a payment that has already been processed or a Happy Mail that has already been prepared or dispatched, except where required by law.
If you need help cancelling or pausing your subscription, email hello@friendswhosign.com.au.
3- and 6-month journeys
The 3- and 6-month Happy Mail journeys are purchased as fixed journeys using one payment and do not automatically renew.
If you change your mind before your first Happy Mail has been prepared, please contact us as soon as possible and we will let you know whether the order can still be cancelled.
Once fulfilment of a fixed journey has begun, we do not generally offer refunds simply because you have changed your mind. This does not affect any refund, replacement, cancellation or other rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
Australian businesses are not generally required to provide change-of-mind refunds, but consumer guarantees still apply where there is a problem with the goods or services.
Refunds, problems and consumer guarantees
We want you to be happy with your Happy Mail. If there is a problem with your order, please contact us at hello@friendswhosign.com.au so we can help.
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Depending on the circumstances, you may be entitled to a replacement, refund, cancellation or another remedy where goods or services do not meet those guarantees.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to restrict those rights.
Gift orders
Happy Mail can be purchased as a gift.
When ordering a gift, please enter the recipient’s correct delivery details at checkout. You may also provide a short gift note to be included in their first Happy Mail.
You are responsible for ensuring you have permission to provide the recipient’s personal information for the purpose of sending the gift.
Learning resources and Auslan
Friends Who Sign aims to provide clear and useful learning resources, but language naturally includes variation.
Auslan signs may vary regionally or between signers, and learning materials should be understood within the broader context of Auslan language and Deaf culture.
Where Friends Who Sign links to or refers to third-party educational resources, those resources remain subject to their own copyright, licence and usage conditions.
Intellectual property
Friends Who Sign retains rights in its original branding, written content, illustrations, Learning Card designs, layouts, photographs and other original materials unless otherwise stated.
Purchasing Happy Mail gives you permission to use the resources for your own personal, family, educational or support use. It does not give permission to reproduce, sell, distribute or commercially exploit Friends Who Sign materials without written permission.
Friends Who Sign does not claim ownership of Auslan as a language or of third-party materials used or referenced under separate licences.
Website information
We take reasonable care to keep information on the Friends Who Sign website accurate and current.
Occasionally, product details, availability, prices or delivery information may need to change. Any change will not retrospectively alter an order you have already paid for unless we contact you and agree otherwise.
Events outside our reasonable control
Sometimes delivery or fulfilment may be affected by events outside our reasonable control, such as postal disruptions, extreme weather or other unexpected circumstances.
If that happens, we will do our best to communicate with affected customers and find a reasonable solution.
Nothing in this section limits rights that cannot be excluded under Australian law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Service as Friends Who Sign grows or our products and processes change.
The terms that applied when you placed your order will continue to apply to that purchase unless a change is required by law or agreed with you.
