Happy mail for the grown-ups helping little ones find their voice
Simple Auslan signs, practical ideas, and something special to look forward to in your letterbox twice a month.
Created by a mum of a little one with a speech delay on the journey too.
Why Happy Mail?
You don’t need more saved posts.
You don’t need another thing to bookmark and come back to later.
You need something that actually makes it into real life with your little one.
Because somewhere between appointments, routines, work, and life… good intentions often get left behind.
Happy Mail brings it back to something simple.
Something you can hold in your hands. Something that arrives in your letterbox. Something that gently reminds you to keep going.
My Story
Hi, I’m Monique.
I’m a mum to my little one, Nadiya, who uses Key Word Sign and AAC to help communicate with her village.
I’m also an adult educator, which means I’ve spent years helping grown-ups learn new skills in ways that actually stick.
But nothing prepared me for how different it feels when the learning is about your own child.
I quickly realised something important:
It wasn’t just about teaching my little one to communicate.
It was about helping the grown-ups around her learn how to communicate with her too.
Friends Who Sign Happy Mail was created from that lived experience — to make learning feel simpler, more human, and a lot less overwhelming.
What is Happy Mail?

Build Your Village
Little ones don’t just communicate with one person.
They communicate with their village.
That might include:
Mums and dads
Grandparents
Educators
Support workers
Therapists
Friends and extended family
The more grown-ups who can use signs, the more opportunities a little one has to be understood.
That’s what Friends Who Sign is here to support.
Helping you build your village, one small step at a time.
What are these signs?
Friends Who Sign uses Auslan signs through a Key Word Sign approach.
This means we use Auslan signs alongside spoken language to support communication, understanding, and connection.
We don’t sign every word.
We focus on the key words that carry meaning — like:
MORE PLAY EAT HELP
